Janjgir-Champa, May 29. Chaos erupted at the Akaltara Municipal Council in the district on Friday when 14 angry councilors, including the vice-president, locked the municipal office. The councilors protested, expressing their displeasure with administrative procedures and various issues.

According to reports, councillors were unhappy with the municipality’s long-standing neglect of numerous problems and public interest issues. The vice-president and councillors united to reach the municipal office and lock the main gate in protest. During this time, the councillors also raised slogans against the municipal administration.
The councilors allege that transparency is not being maintained in the city’s development work and that public representatives are being ignored in many important matters. They said that if their demands are not met soon, the agitation will intensify.
Upon receiving information about the incident, administrative staff and police arrived at the scene and attempted to calm the situation. Currently, political activity has intensified in the city regarding the matter.
